WA grants Global Lithium a mining lease Manna project

Critical minerals company Global Lithium has secured a 21-year mining lease for its flagship Manna lithium project in Western Australia.

The approval, granted by the state’s Minister for Mines, Petroleum and Exploration under the Mining Act, follows closely after the company signed a Native Title Mining Agreement with the Kakarra Part B Native Title Group.

Global Lithium said on Monday that the lease significantly de-risked the project and accelerated progress toward a final investment decision, which remained on track for the end of 2025 following the optimisation of a definitive feasibility study (DFS).

MD Dianmin Chen said the milestone reflected the company’s ability to deliver on commitments made after a board renewal earlier this year.

“The granting of the mining lease for the Manna lithium project is a transformative moment for Global Lithium and its shareholders. This achievement, coming so soon after the successful Native Title Mining Agreement, validates our focused strategy and the diligent work of our team and partners,” Chen said.

He said that Global was fully focused on finalising the optimised DFS and pursuing discussions with potential development partners.

The Manna deposit hosts 51.6-million tonnes at 1.0% lithium oxide and is positioned to become a significant spodumene producer and contributor to Australia’s critical minerals supply chain, the company said.
