ASX-listed West African Resources remains on time and on budget with construction at the Kiaka gold project, in Burkina Faso.

The company is targeting first gold production in the third quarter of 2025.

Project director Matt Scully confirms that five of seven concrete lifts are now complete, as are the wing walls, at the project’s processing plant.

The structural, mechanical and piping contractor is nearing completion of the first conveyor, with a second conveyor’s construction well under way.

The company has also established foundations for a pebble crusher and completed a lime silo installation.

West African is using a newly acquired 550 t heavy lift crane to aid construction of the processing plant on site.

The company plans on producing an average 420 000 oz/y of gold up to 2033 from its established Sanbrado gold mine, in Burkina Faso, as well as the Kiaka mine. The Kiaka mine will produce an average 234 000 oz/y of gold.

West African also owns the Toega gold deposit, which is located within 14 km of Sanbrado. This will be a satellite mining operating providing 6.5 years of ore feed to the Sanbrado processing plant.

Toega is expected to start production in the second half of 2025.
