Faster economic growth is a must because it serves the interests of everyone

It has been estimated that an increase in gross domestic product (GDP) from 1% to 2.5% would create an additional 21-million jobs within a decade and add something like R330-billion a year to the fiscus. Such an increase should be viewed as an absolute minimum for the short term, with a lot more ambition displayed when it comes to growing GDP for the medium and longer term.

Focusing on faster economic growth is an absolute must as it serves the interests of everyone. The public sector and the private sector must continue to forge ahead collaboratively to drive even more tangible energy, logistics and water improvement, as well as meaningful crime and corruption removal.

The maturity with which most Ministries have approached collaboration is promising and major publicity must be given to those Ministries that serve the national interest best.
