With only two weeks until the annual Mine Security Conference, taking place on 19-20 June, Indaba Hotel, Fourways, Johannesburg, stakeholders are still registering to form part of the critical discussions around safeguarding their mines, people and communities.

“There could not be a better time to focus on protecting mineral resources & infrastructure and applying stronger mine security measures through intelligence sharing, which is also the theme for this year’s conference.” says Ankia Roux, organiser, Pinpoint Stewards.

A critical topic, built into the conference, is a panel discussion focussing on collaboration between the mining sector and authorities - creating intelligence sharing, against the threat of illegal mining.  Panellists include: Nash Lutchman, Independent mining security and law enforcement professional, Thys de Beer, Group Security and Forensic Investigations Manager: SA Operations, Harmony Gold Mining Company Limited and Major General Ebrahim Ahmed Kadwa, Provincial Head: DPCI Gauteng Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation, with delegates contributing to the discussion to reach concrete outcomes.

Presentations will be delivered by GM’s in mining, security leads, risk and loss prevention, law enforcement entities from both the public and private sector with presentations from: Impala Platinum, Anglo American Platinum Security, Pan African Resources, NPA and DPCI among others and will share how they are addressing the deteriorating security conditions around mining and how working together can create pro-active rather than re-active solutions.

The 2-day conference will also give technology providers a platform to showcase the latest security solutions via demo’s and exhibitions by:  Bidvest Protea Coin and UDS, Safer City Group, Blue Hawk Tactical, Rocket DNA (PTY) LTD and Spiderweb Labs.

“The annual platform has grown significantly over the years showing the need for mine security stakeholders to meet and engage and we are honoured to host the discussion” says organiser Ankia Roux.  “After the conference, networking is encouraged between speakers, delegates and solution providers during a sponsored Tasting” she adds.

To further encourage engagement, a “Mine Security Network SA” group was created by the organisers on LinkedIn as an action point from last year’s conference.  It is a closed group, and participants will be included on request only with linked interests.

Registration for the conference closes on 12 June. To register or enquire email info@pinpointstewards.co.za or online on www.pinpointstewards.co.za
