Industrial agitator manufacturer Mixtec will be showcasing its very own high-level mixer designs and cutting-edge impeller designs at this year’s Electra Mining Africa.

Proud of its unique designs that have been developed at its extensive research and development (R&D) facility in South Africa, the company says showcasing the new agitator design, known as the EDICT system, will make this year’s display special.

This exclusive Mixtec offering is a “highly effective low power mixing solution, which is setting the benchmark in power consumption and effective mixing in the mining and mineral processing industry”, says projects and sales manager Rudi Swanepoel.

“The system uses a combination of specially designed up and down pumping impellers to result in extremely effective and energy efficient suspension of solids. As with all our designs, various factors, like tank dimensions, particle sizes, process temperatures, viscosity and specific gravity of the product as well as the designs of the impellers, shaft and drive are carefully calculated and sized for each specific application,” he tells Mining Weekly.

In essence, Swanepoel explains, the Mixtec EDICT system provides the necessary flow and velocity across the slurry using far less power and reduces the mechanical design of the associated hardware.

The system, which, in its initial design was developed 15 years ago, has proved popular on projects around the globe and specifically in African countries such as Ghana, Morocco, Senegal and the Democratic Republic of Congo, in a range of commodity applications.

Mixtec, which places special importance on R&D and keeping ahead of the game, will have design and sales engineers available at the Electra Mining Africa exhibition to offer guidance to anyone who may require advice regarding their own specific mixing applications or equipment.

Proudly local, Mixtec has several manufacturing facilities globally of which South Africa is the flagship manufacturing facility. The company’s manufacturing facilities are all run with the strictest quality and safety procedures and yearly quality and procedural audits keep its products and services aligned with the highest standards, Swanepoel notes.

Every Mixtec office has its own R&D department, as well as design, engineering and commissioning personnel who are trained to apply the latest fluid mixing technology for every application and installation.

“The different specialties of each Mixtec office allow us to quickly tap into a wealth of design experience and expertise, expanding our overall knowledge base and enabling us to confidently satisfy our customers’ needs no matter where they are located,” says Swanepoel.
