JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) –  The green hydrogen sector now has a digital platform on which users can buy and sell green hydrogen with the click of a button, it was announced on Tuesday.

Euronext-listed Lhyfe, the French group devoted to energy transition, has begun taking orders for green hydrogen in Europe and facilitating contacts between buyers and sellers. (Also watch attached video.)

The Green Hydrogen Marketplace is on its online Lhyfe Heroes portal, which is coordinating efforts to accelerate decarbonisation.

Lhyfe has been working to accelerate decarbonisation through an industrial-scale green hydrogen production site connected to a wind farm since 2021.

A year later, the company established a platform for producing green hydrogen at sea, and now it has launched the digital green hydrogen trading platform.

This is more good news for South Africa’s platinum group metals (PGM) mining in view of proton exchange membrane, or PEM, electrolysers making use of PGMs to generate green hydrogen, which electrifies fuel cells that provide green mobility and stationary power for widespread and varied industrial, commercial and off-grid use.

The first phase of Lhyfe’s marketplace will enable buyers with their own hydrogen transport solutions, and producers, to cooperate to strengthen the green hydrogen offer across Europe.

“The digitalisation of the sector has always been one of our projects,” Lhyfe founder and CEO Matthieu Guesné stated in a release to Mining Weekly.

“We developed the algorithmic part and remote control methods to optimise our production. The Heroes platform then enabled many players in the mobility sector to gain a better understanding of this sector and to structure their projects.

“In the industry, we’re all convinced that it’s by joining forces that we’ll accelerate the transition to green hydrogen and decarbonisation,” Guesné added.

A few clicks on a single map displays the different supply points and useful information for choosing the date and source. This saves time for both buyers and sellers.

“This marketplace opens up new opportunities for us to optimise our production sites and give our customers greater guarantees in terms of the availability of green hydrogen,” said Lhyfe operations director Antoine Hamon
