Gold and copper miner Newmont has reduced its shareholding in Discovery Silver by selling 50.5-million shares for C$124.07-million, or C$2.457 each.

The transaction reduces its shareholding in Discovery Silver from 14.95% of the issued and outstanding common shares, to about 8.64%.

“Newmont will evaluate its investment in Discovery from time to time and may, based on such evaluation, market conditions and other circumstances, increase or decrease its shareholdings as circumstances require through market transactions, private agreements, or otherwise,” the miner stated.

Discovery is an Americas-focused precious metals company with a diversified portfolio including gold producing assets in and near Timmins, Ontario, Canada and 100% ownership of the Cordero project in Mexico, one of the world’s largest silver development-stage projects.
