Full flowsheet minerals processing supplier FLS’s MissionZero strategy aims to advance sustainable mining, particularly for critical minerals, such as copper, which are essential for decarbonising technologies.

FLS is responding to the challenges of sustainable production highlighted by the EU’s Critical Raw Materials Act, particularly for minerals identified as strategic and critical.

FLS invests significantly in research and development for carbon reduction technologies, with key innovations, such as the Eccentric Roll Crusher and High-Pressure Grinding Rolls (HPGR), having a significant impact on energy efficiency and plant performance.

The company’s range of technologies, including coarse particle flotation and HPGR, enable mining operations to balance sustainability goals with the need for increased production.

Technologies like coarseAIR™ and the REFLUX Flotation Cell are advancing mineral processing efficiency. In an interview with Mining Weekly, FLS VP for capital sales in Europe, Arabia and Africa Alistair McKay discusses the key advantages of these solutions, and how they improve energy efficiency and plant capacity.

He adds that beyond reducing carbon emissions, FLS ensures that its innovations address broader sustainability challenges, such as optimising water and energy consumption in mining operations.
