Gemstone miner Gemfields has successfully completed a fully underwritten rights issue, which was first announced on April 11. The rights issue has resulted in the issuance of about 556-million new ordinary shares, raising about $30-million for the company.

Gemfields reports that valid acceptances were received for about 458-million of the new shares, which represents about 82.4% of the total number of new shares offered in the rights issue.

The balance of about 98-million shares will be subscribed for by the underwriters of the rights issue.

Specifically, Assore International Holdings will subscribe for about 64-million shares, while Rational Expectations will take up about 34-million shares. These subscriptions are in excess of the underwriters’ respective pro rata entitlements.
