South Africa’s musts: fix Eskom, boost renewables, extend grid, restore rail, defeat crime

Turning energy and logistics threats into opportunities is a must for all South Africans during this tough time in the country’s history. South Africans must show unyielding determination to ensure that Eskom is fixed, renewable energy is maximised, and the national electricity grid is extended.

Rail and port networks must be innovatively restored – and the copper cable used by them replaced with composite alternatives that prevent the copper from being recovered. Crime must be smashed very convincingly by drastically increasing crime’s risk-to-reward ratio. Unlicensed weapons must be confiscated and publicly destroyed.

At the same time, business and government must shrink South Africa’s over dependence on carbon to ensure that this country’s exports are not penalised by the carbon import tariffs that are being drawn up by many of our trading partners.
