JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – South Africa’s State Diamond Trader will be presenting an inaugural diamond show in Cape Town from February 2 to 5.

Each day of the 2025 South Africa Diamond Show will focus on themes that include sustainability and ethical sourcing and attention will be called to the value of natural diamonds mined and beneficiated by South Africans as well as diamonds mined globally.

“From the discovery of the world's largest diamond to cutting-edge innovations in sustainability and ethical sourcing, the show will highlight South Africa’s commitment to responsible industry practices while fostering global collaboration,” the statutory diamond body states in an invitation to next week’s media launch that been extended by State Diamond Trader CEO Nosi Mzamo.

The main business of the statutory State Diamond Trader is to promote equitable access to South Africa’s diamonds and to stimulate local diamond beneficiation.

The South Africa government’s beneficiation objectives support skills development, enterprise development, industry development.

Attendees will learn about the transparent and sustainable sourcing practices that define South African diamonds and diamond industry innovation will be highlighted as stakeholders get to see firsthand how technology, from AI-driven cutting to digital traceability, is reshaping the industry.

The opportunity will be provided for participants to engage in discussion on traceability and value addition, with the chance to purchase ethically sourced, and diamond pieces directly from exhibitors being laid on.

The main aim is to address distortions in the diamond industry and correct historical market failures to develop and grow South Africa's diamond cutting and polishing industry.

The State Diamond Trader office is located at OR Tambo International Airport Special Economic Zone in Bonaero Park, Kempton Park, and is relatively close to the De Beers Sightholder Sales South Africa rough diamond sorting, valuation and sales facility in Sky Park, which was opened in May 2023.
